Early days of CPL revealed in Cambridge Business magazine article | 11 Jan 2012

The unlikely story of how CPL’s founding directors Mark Rosselli and Jonathan Wilson first met and then went on to set up the agency is recounted in a magazine feature published this month.

The article in Cambridge Business tells how the pair were one-time adversaries when they both worked at The Observer newspaper, with negotiations between management, represented by Mark, and the journalists’ union, for which Jonathan was shop steward, leading to Jonathan telling Mark:   ’I'll see you in court.’ As the piece by Jenny Chapman explains, the pair later left Fleet Street to establish CPL in 1996, initially from a tiny office in Mark’s house. Since then, CPL has gone from strength to strength and now has a team of more than 25 people producing print and digital magazines, videos, websites, apps and other marketing material for a range of clients.

The pair remain closely involved in the business today, with Jonathan leading CPL’s work for Darley Stud Management, and Mark, who is now chairman, concentrating on strategic developments, particularly in CPL’s digital publishing and video services.
