Trio of CPL client magazines shortlisted for industry awards | 23 Jan 2012
Two magazines produced by CPL have been shortlisted for industry awards for the first time.
ECA Today and TS Today, produced for the Electrical Contractors’ Association and the Trading Standards Institute respectively, are through to the final stages of the annual awards programme run by the central region of the Institute of Internal Communication.
Cheers, a magazine for Molson Coors Brewing Company, has also been shortlisted this year – after winning the top prize in the 2011 awards.
CPL launched ECA Today for the association in 2010. Judges praised the fact that, in less than two years, it had established itself as an ‘authoritative and must-read magazine in its sector’. They highlighted the creative approach taken by the CPL team, saying the topic was ‘brought to life through clever use of design, photography and page layout’.
TS Today also scored strong marks, with judges liking the way it ‘tackles the issues the audience faces head-on’. Pointing out that producing a 40-page monthly publication is an achievement in itself for a small team, the judges added: ‘If I were a member of the Trading Standards Institute I’d consider this a definite member benefit.’
Cheers was also praised as standing out in its category. Judges described it as a ‘high-quality, classily produced publication, with some “wow” to it’.
Mike Sewell, CPL managing director, said: ‘We had a great year for winning awards in 2011 and we’re delighted to start off 2012 with this success. It’s particularly pleasing to have been shortlisted for two magazines that we had not previously entered for awards. It’s always good to compare ourselves against our peers – and this recognition highlights that our journalists, designers and other publishing experts at CPL are producing some really high quality work on behalf of our clients.’
