ARU student wins CPL video competition

Shayne Thomas-Gordon’s video, which explores the popularity of comic book superheroes, has won CPL’s first student video competition, earning him a cash prize and a spell of work experience with the company.

Shayne is a recent graduate of Cambridge’s Anglia Ruskin University. His film, a two-minute interview exploring how the superhero genre has impacted upon contemporary cinema, was shot at the university. His interviewee – a fellow film student –  is an avid fan of superheroes and has worked asa radio film critic on the subject.

CPL was impressed by the way Shayne had structured the video, and his use of photography and editing to create a fast and lively pace.

“Videos are becoming increasingly popular as a form of media,” says Ciprian Cucuruz, CPL’s head of video, “and, more and more, we are producing videos for many of our clients as part of their publishing strategies or marketing schedules.

“Shayne will be able to gain an insight into the wide range of content we produce here at CPL and we hope this will be beneficial to him as he develops his career.”
