Bold new look for leading membership magazine

CPL’s creative team has planned and delivered a bold new design identity for the British Parking Association’s flagship members’ magazine.

Parking News, which is written and designed by CPL, is a key benefit of membership of the British Parking Association (BPA), and is the leading magazine for the parking sector.

Louise Parfitt, whose first task as editor was to oversee the redesign, explained the rationale: ‘The BPA is taking a positive, bold approach to driving forward the parking sector; we were determined that the look and feel of the revamped magazine should reflect and complement this approach.’

CPL designer Chloe Fuller led the creative thinking and work behind the redesign. ‘We feel it has been successful in bringing the content to life,’ she said. ‘We use conceptual design in places, as well as other bespoke images to give the publication a unique and dynamic look.’

The new design has improved the signposting of stories, helping readers to navigate through the different sections in the magazine. Chloe also designed a new masthead and used new fonts throughout.

Caron Fassetta, head of membership and information management at the BPA, praised the work carried out by the CPL team: ‘Parking News is going from strength-to-strength at the moment,’ she said. ‘We are really pleased with the quality of the content and the thought leadership conveyed through it. Last year saw a big win at the Institute of Internal Communications’ National Awards and it’s great to start 2018 with a refreshed design. The magazine’s new colour palette and branding make it feel more connected to the BPA. The CPL team has done a fantastic job.
