CPL media sales team in line for agency team of the year award

The CPL team that achieved excellent sales for a professional body’s virtual exhibition has been shortlisted for a top award.

The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy’s annual exhibition is normally held at the NEC in Birmingham, but the September 2020 event was transformed into a virtual exhibition as a result of the Covid pandemic.

The CPL team, led by Andy Shields, achieved excellent sales for the event, smashing their target despite only having a few weeks to sell in a brand new concept.

Steve Mann, head of events at the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, said: “CPL’s media sales team did an amazing job – only 10 weeks, with a new client, trying to sell this strange new world to exhibitors and sponsors when the only effective way to do this was to show them round the virtual world, at all hours of the day and night. The results were as good as they could possibly have been.”

CPL has also been shortlisted in two other categories for the awards, run by Memcom, which specialises in supporting leaders of a range of membership organisations.

The digital magazine for airline pilots association BALPA is up for an award in the best magazine launch/relaunch category, and CPL’s work on the Great British Bonus for the Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association is shortlisted in the best integrated marketing campaign category.

The winners will be announced on 30 September 2021.
