The client

The British Psychological Society (BPS) promotes excellence and ethical practice in the science, education and practical applications of psychology.

The challenge

CPL was appointed in 2016 to manage the media sales for the BPS’s flagship monthly member magazine, The Psychologist. In addition to increasing revenue for the printed magazine, BPS wanted to gain commercial revenue from other sources, such as newsletters and podcasts.

BPS has since expanded the brief for CPL’s media sales team, to include sponsorship sales for its annual conference, selling advertising in some of its journals, sponsorship of the app edition of The Psychologist, and managing the development and sales of the new recruitment website,

The solution

CPL’s media sales team worked proactively to engage with existing and potential advertisers to increase advertising revenue within The Psychologist and led on the job-board website development.
