CPL extends content partnership with Versus Arthritis as charity highlights impact of chronic pain

A BBC survey revealed this month that nearly a quarter of people in the UK experience chronic pain, many of them living with arthritis.

Following the survey, leading charity and CPL client Versus Arthritis is calling for a fundamental re-think in how we support people with chronic pain.

“Everyone – from Government, local leaders of health and social care services, to employers, communities and the third sector – must work towards anyone in the UK living with chronic pain having access to the support they need, alongside medical treatments where appropriate, so it no longer drives millions of people into disability,” says the charity.

CPL highlights the challenges faced by people with arthritis through Inspire magazine, which we write, create and design on behalf of Versus Arthritis.

Available in print and digital formats, Inspire supports people to live well with the condition – offering a combination of real-life stories, tips and inspiration.

Well-known contributors such as GP Dr Sarah Jarvis and BBC journalist Julian Worricker write regular pieces for the magazine, which is overseen by CPL’s Tracey Lattimore, former editor of Women’s Health.

“Arthritis has an impact on the lives of hundreds of thousands of people,” says Tracey. “The magazine is just one way in which supporters of Versus Arthritis can learn about how others are managing the condition – and I am proud that we receive consistently positive feedback from readers.”

Bethan Thobani-Hacker, individual giving manager at Versus Arthritis, adds: “Inspire magazine does a great job in highlighting real-life experiences and supporting people to live well with, and despite, their arthritis. Arthritis is a hidden disease and that can be so isolating; Inspire says ‘we see you, we’re with you and you’re not alone’.

“Tracey and the CPL team understand our communications priorities and use their journalistic and design expertise to put together the magazine in an engaging and incredibly professional way. We are delighted to extend our partnership with CPL.”
