Highest-ever membership for The Camping and Caravanning Club

CPL client The Camping and Caravanning Club is celebrating record membership with nearly 600,000 individuals, or 281,674 households, now being members.

Founded in 1901 with six members as The Association of British Cycle Campers, the Club was the ‘first in the field’ and today continues as an industry leader.

The Club’s official magazine Camping & Caravanning, which has been free to members since 1907, has been online since 2014 and according to latest ABC figures, is the second highest circulating digital title in the UK.

Today, 25% of members of Club members opt for online membership and use the Club’s dedicated campsite app, siteseeker, to find their perfect campsite and receive a digital version of the magazine.

CPL has managed the media sales for The Camping and Caravanning Club since January 2014.

CPL account manager Matt Styrka is delighted with the membership figures for the Club. “The Club has a strong ethos and history, which is apparent to every member. The popularity of camping continues to grow and membership of the Club provides excellent value.

“From a media sales perspective, these figures are really exciting. The fact that the magazine either in printed or digital format reaches such a large percentage of UK campers, makes it an obvious choice for advertisers within the industry.

“Here at CPL we strive to treat every advertiser uniquely and ensure they have all the options the Club’s publishing portfolio can offer to make sure they have the greatest value for their budget. The CCC media website, which we designed and host at CPL is a great tool when considering available options.

“Advertising revenue, both print and digital continues to grow. It is particularly great to see classified advertising revenue continuing to increase, during a time in which many magazines see it in decline.”

Club President, Julia Bradbury, (pictured) is delighted with the record-breaking membership figures. “In an age when time is so precious, camping and caravanning is a brilliant way to spend quality time with family and friends. I believe this, along with the great benefits the Club has to offer, is why campers choose to join the Camping and Caravanning Club.”
