Double success for CPL’s editorial team at IoIC awards

CPL picked up two awards of excellence at the 2017 Institute of Internal Communication (IoIC) Central & North Awards, held last week at the National Railway Museum in York.

CPL’s dedicated content team for CIBSE Journal, led by editor Alex Smith – who is supported by deputy editor Liza Young and designer James Baldwin – won in the ‘team of the year’ category.

They were recognised for the way they have delivered a redesign of the magazine, and continued to take it from strength to strength, over the past 12 months. The latest CIBSE Journal reader survey saw an impressive 93% of members rate it as ‘good or excellent’ – up from 88% the previous year.

Meanwhile, in the writing category, freelance journalist Katie Silvester won an award of excellence for her feature in the Chartered Trading Standards Institute’s (CTSI) quarterly members’ magazine, TS Review. The article, commissioned and edited by Carina Bailey, gave a snapshot of the state of the trading standards profession; it went on to receive extensive coverage in both regional and national media.

CPL managing director Mike Sewell was delighted with the recognition. “CPL’s journalistic credentials, combined with our commitment to producing high-quality work for our clients, is reinforced through these results. And it was great to attend an awards ceremony at such a memorable venue - on a platform at the National Railway Museum.”
