CPL adds second major engineering institution to its built environment portfolio

We are delighted to announce that the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) has appointed CPL to be its publishing and media sales partner.

Following a competitive tender process, CPL will design and produce IStructE’s membership magazine, as well as developing its new recruitment website and selling advertising across IStructE’s portfolio.

CPL is already expert in the built environment, having produced magazines and content for the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and the Cambridge chapter of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) for a number of years.

Sophie Hewitt-Jones, client services director for CPL, said: “We are thrilled to have been successful in this tender. During the proposal and pitch stages, we focused on demonstrating our  journalistic and media sales expertise, along with our commitment to excellent customer service. We are looking forward to working with Robin Jones, editor of The Structural Engineer, and the rest of the IStructE team.”

Sunita Dhawan, head of learning and development for IStructE, added: “It’s really important to us to have the right content and publishing partner, which is why we undertook a comprehensive tender exercise. CPL has a strong reputation in the membership and built environment sector and we have been really impressed by what we have seen of their team so far. We feel CPL is the right agency to help develop the magazine and our broader content and commercial strategy over the next few years.”

The October 2022 issue of The Structural Engineer will be the first to be produced by CPL, while the new recruitment website is due to go live shortly before that.

This is CPL’s third major membership publishing contract win over the past year, building on successful new partnerships with the Chartered Quality Institute and the Institute of Asset Management.
